Elgin Lodge has been monitoring the COVID – 19 situations closely, taking steps to prevent transmission, following the directives from; The Ministry of Health, The Chief Medical Officer and the Retirement Home Regulatory Authority.

RESPONSIVE COVID – 19 PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
We have implemented a number of measures in line with our Infection Control Protocols and the latest Ontario Health recommendations:
• Restricting access to only essential visitors ( e.g. person performing essential support services or
a person visiting a very ill or palliative resident) and essential suppliers
• Our entrance screeners checking staff members and all essential visitors are wearing a mask
• Enhanced disinfecting and cleaning processes
• Securing a reserve supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies, including
enough surgical masks for all staff to have two per day
• Implementing twice daily temperature checks and active screening of residents
• Elgin Lodge has worked hard to evaluate all areas of resident interaction – dining, recreation,
etc. – and we have put in measures wherever possible to maintain physical distancing
• Elgin Lodge has made arrangements to move to room service for mealtimes if Public Health
determines this is necessary
• Staff and Resident Cohorting Plan is in effect; we can separate the well and unwell residents,
utilizing vacant rooms as appropriate. Staff cohorting may include: designating staff to work
with either ill residents or well residents to whatever extent is possible
• Working closely with Public Health Units to increasing testing capacity of residents and team
members – note: Public Health has full control of testing for COVID-19
• Restricting retirement community employees to work at only one location until further notice
